The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the central truths of the Christian faith for themselves. It’s relaxed and low key. Above all, the 10 week course allows each participant to ask anything! We insist that Alpha is a place where no question is thought to be too simple or too hostile.
There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives everyone an opportunity to get to know other people on the course. The content of the Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as ‘who is Jesus?’ and ‘why did he die?’ After these talks we divide into small groups to allow time for questions and discussion as well as a chance to see what the Bible says.
Alpha is for everyone, especially:
Those wanting to explore Christianity
New Christians
Newcomers to St Dionis
Those who want to brush up on the basics of the Christian faith
There is no charge made for the Alpha course, although you may be invited to make a contribution towards food. Additionally, as part of the course, participants are invited to take part in a day away. This usually takes place at a venue outside London. The teaching centres on the person and work of God the Holy Spirit.
